- A Topic is a specific Theme that has been established in a Forum.
- A Forum (or Sub-Forum) reflects a Chapter (or Sub-Chapter) of the planned Practice Guide publication.
- There are two ways to reply to a Topic: (1) via "Reply" button, or (2) via "Quote" button as below:
- The difference between these two methods, is that whereas "Reply" will create a flat response in the Forum discussion, "Quote" will link two separate Replies to facilitate a "Golden Thread".
- Depending on interactions, "Topics" may result in a several replies, which can take some time to scroll through. To facilitate more detailed categorisation, and easier review of specific discussion themes, then Lead Authors can "Create a New Topic" to reflect a sub-theme.
- However, the decision to create Topics to reflect sub-themes should be left to Lead Authors, who will moderate Forum discussions.
- Once a new Topic has been created, responses can be moved to the new Topic area, for easier sub-categorisation and review.
- Should new Sub-Forum areas be required (e.g., for a new Chapter/Section in the Practice Guide publication), then this needs to be raised centrally by the Lead Author to the IRM Risk & Complexity SIG Chair.
